It’s finally here, the beginning of our October Brick Video Contest! Share a video you made incorporating the theme, “spooky fun”, and you could win a grand prize of 10228 LEGO® Monster Fighters Haunted House signed by LEGO designer Adam Grabowski and a LEGO® Monster Fighters Exclusive Grab Bag.

10228 LEGO Monster Fighters Haunted House

Hurry up and submit your video as soon as you can – then share it with your friends, family, and extended network. The top 5 videos with the most “likes” from fellow ReBrick members will enter a semi-finals round, during which one grand prize winner will be selected.

A few things to keep in mind…

The video must be uploaded to YouTube (Youtube.com) and then bookmarked in the Building Challenge category. Make sure to add the extended link and not the short URL (on YouTube choose ‘share’ and then fold down ‘options’ and check the ‘long link’ box), otherwise the video wouldn’t play correctly. If you add music to your video, make sure you have rights to do so or it's licensed Creative Commons.

If you participate in the contest, your video might be picked as the featured video for the Official LEGO YouTube channel. We will pick a total of two videos for the channel— one is featured on October 23rd and the other on October 26th. Please note that being featured on YouTube does not guarantee being in the semi-final or winning the challenge.

For more details, please read the rules in short as well as the Official Rules and Regulations at the bottom of this post.

Rules in Short:

  • The building contest is open to all users 16 years and older holding a ReBrick account. The voting process is open to all users holding a Rebrick account.
  • To submit an entry:  Upload your video on YouTube (we do not host content on ReBrick) and add a bookmark to the video in the special themed category: Building Challenge on ReBrick.
  • Video must not exceed 3 minutes.

  • The contest begins October 1st at 9:00 A.M. Eastern Standard Time (EST). Entries submitted to ReBrick before this date and time will not be accepted into the contest. Competition are open for submissions until October 29th 2012 at 8:59 A.M. EST.
  • A panel of judges will review the five (5) bookmarks with most likes and select one (1) grand prize winner. The five semi-finalist videos will be reviewed based on creativity, originality and theme.
  • Judging will begin at 9:00 A.M.  EST on October 29th 2012 and will end at 9:00 A.M. EST on October 31st 2012.
  • Entries must only contain elements from the LEGO® collection.
  • All entries and entrants must follow the ReBrick House Rules.
  • We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow the official rules. Any form of cheating will result in a banning of user profile from ReBrick.

Oh yes. You're right about this rule. But we have to ask the entrants, if they have permission to use the music/sound. E.g. bought a license or similar. If not they should change the music/sound to a cc license.

Thank you for pointing this out, RepellingSpider :)

Well what about the official rules for the contest under the WARRANTY section? "WARRANTY: Entrant represents and warrants that (i) entrant’s Submission was taken by entrant, (ii) the Submission is original to entrant and does not infringe upon or otherwise violate any right of any third party, and (iii) entrant has all rights necessary to submit the Submission, including all necessary authorizations and permissions from any persons included in the Submission, (iv) that the Submission will not include unlawful, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic or other material that would violate the law; advertising for third party products or services."

How can they still be in the competition if they clearly violate this?

REPELLINGSPIDER, Yes, they are still in the competition. We don't have a rule against using copyright sound/music. It's up to the user him/herself what music (s)he wants to use, but we recommend to use music that's not copyrighted because it is not legal to use someone else's copyrighted material. We will consider that for the next competition we run:)

So I've got a quick question... I've noticed that two of the entries that are currently in the Top 5 are using copyrighted material. Will they be in contention still, despite this?

This contest is not over yet and I'm already hopping for one in december with a Chrismas theme. Just saying... :-) Who agree?
