NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.  MANY WILL ENTER; FEW WILL WIN A PRIZE.

Overview

The Imagine Our Future Beyond Earth competition (“the challenge”) is a creative building competition where the LEGO Group and NASA invite the fans of LEGO ReBrick to a building competition.

The competition will begin at June 5th, 2013 and the submission period ends July 31st 2013. Winners will be announced September 1st 2013.

How to Enter

To participate in this building challenge you need to do a little digging to find out about the missions NASA has planned through the 2030s. Pick one and build a LEGO model out of your own imagination. Your LEGO creation does not need to be a scientifically correct model (though you are welcome to build that too), but you have to document the relationship between a future NASA mission and your model in the description of the bookmark on ReBrick.

Need a little inspiration to get your creative juices flowing? Here are a few of NASA’s websites that can help you get started:

Do not be afraid to be imaginative here, we would like to see what you can dream up, even if it is not currently possible.

To enter, you have to create a model using LEGO® bricks focusing on the theme: Imagine Our Future Beyond Earth. Upload the image content on an external platform and proceed to the ReBrick website to submit a link to the content.

On the ReBrick website you will have to sign in with your LEGO ID – If you don’t have one yet, sign up for free. Next, submit the link to the uploaded image to the special themed category: Building Challenge on ReBrick. Once you submit your link you accept the terms and conditions, and you will be officially entered into the challenge. Entries cannot be revised or altered once submitted.

The building contest is open to all users 16 years and older holding a ReBrick account.

Rules in Short

  • This contest begins June 5th 2013 at 3:00 P.M. Central European Summer Time (CEST) (9:00 A.M. Eastern Standard time, EST) and is open through July 31st, 2013.  Entries submitted after July 31st 2013 at 2:59 P.M. CEST (8:59 A.M. EST) will not be accepted into the contest.

  • Your entry must be your own design and must be a new LEGO model (never posted anywhere previously) created specifically for this contest themed Imagine our Future Beyond Earth.
  • Entries must only contain elements from the LEGO® collection and no customized parts. Digital entries are not allowed. Any use of the LEGO or NASA logo will also result in disqualification.
  • Entries are to consist of no more than 1 bookmark, however users can include a link back to a folder on an external site displaying more images of the build.
  • No photo-shopped or edited images will be permitted

Please read the House Rules for full details of what content is allowed on the ReBrick website.

Hi ZBSIEW,

Good question. For this competition, you'll need to focus on NASA's future missions for inspiration, which you can find here: http://solarsystem.nasa.gov/missions/

Since the aircrafts at the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center are current, they cannot be recreated out of LEGO bricks and entered into the competition. You are still welcome to build them and submit them to ReBrick separately from the competition if you wish.

I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

Ok thank you! Could I possibly build a model of one of the present research aircrafts from the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center?

Do we need to keep the finished product to send in or is a picture only necessary?
